  • Avoid text in images. Screen readers cannot read it. If you must use image of text, include alt text.
  • Format hashtags using CamelCase for easier reading and inerpretation by screen readers. Example: #WelcomeKenyonStudents, not #welcomenewstudents.
  • Choose accessible fonts and colors. Avoid all caps which can be difficult to read or mistaken for an acronym by a screen reader. Overly decorative fonts can also be difficult for screen readers. Check the color contrast between the text and background of your post.
  • Use emojis in moderation. Each emoji comes with a description that screen reader announce.
