The Kenyon College Office for Community Partnerships fosters collaboration between Kenyon and the Knox County community for purposeful and positive engagement in addressing issues of common interest. The office works with local organizations, institutions and businesses to strengthen the fabric of community life while advancing the mission of the College to provide a fulfilling liberal arts education and promote civic responsibility.
To accomplish our educational mission, we engage faculty and community representatives as equal partners in developing student research assignments connected with everyday life; in creating opportunities to apply academic knowledge to real-world problems; and in providing hands-on experiences with social and civic realities.
The Office for Community Partnerships is located in the Wright Center in downtown Mount Vernon.

How can a community continue to grow when new residents can’t move in? Brian Sellers ’22, an economics major and 2020 community-engaged summer scholar, worked with the Knox County Area Development Foundation to identify a housing shortage affecting Kenyon’s neighbors.
Community Engaged Learning
Kenyon students collaborated with local farm to learn about sustainable agriculture and with Knox Public Health to assist in designing and executing a new health assessment.
Sustainable Agriculture: Environmental studies students intertwine their coursework with experiential learning from a local farm. Exploring trends and innovations in sustainable agriculture, these students see applications on the ground level, and some even find new career paths.
Public Health: Sociology students collaborated with Knox Public Health to assist in designing and executing the 2021 Knox County Community Health Assessment, providing integral real-world research opportunities and an impactful partnership.
