Tuition refund insurance protects students by providing a partial refund of tuition and fees in case of withdrawal from the College due to illness or accident. Kenyon’s tuition refund plan, offered by A.W.G. Dewar, significantly extends the College’s refund policy.
All students are automatically enrolled in the tuition refund insurance program but have the option to waive coverage.
Cost
For the 2024-25 academic year, the optional tuition refund insurance plan costs $250 per semester.
Billing
The semester insurance premium will be automatically added to your fall semester invoice, but can be waived beginning July 3 through August 24. The spring semester premium will be added to your spring semester tuition and fees invoice unless you have previously waived the fall semester coverage.
If you waive the fall semester coverage, you will not be billed for the spring premium and will not be enrolled in the plan for the spring semester.
Coverage
Subject to policy conditions, the policy assures at least a 75% return in term fees, less any refund or credit due from the College, in the event of a medical withdrawal due to accident or illness. The tuition refund plan provides coverage for billed tuition, housing, food and the student activities fee. Housing coverage is restricted to the standard residence hall fee and is not adjusted for variations in the student's actual living arrangement. Accordingly, the coverage offered for the 2024-25 academic year is $87,160.
Opting out
If you wish to opt out of tuition refund insurance, you must complete a waiver online at www.tuitionprotection.com/kenyoncollege no later than August 29, 2024. An opt-out waiver is only required one time for the academic year; therefore, if you waive the fall semester coverage, you will not be billed for the spring premium and will not be enrolled in the plan for the spring semester.
If you were covered during the fall semester but would like to waive insurance for the spring semester, the waiver site will be open from November 15, 2024, through January 15, 2025.
