Whether you’re interested in international trade or regional economic development, immigration policy or ecotourism, foreign service or community organizing, the Global & Local Key invites you to explore a world that is increasingly interconnected in its flows of culture, capital and human connection. These flows shape not only economic well-being but also cultural identities, political relationships and everyday life — revealing how local places are continually reshaped by global movement and rapid change. Join us in exploring cultures, histories and economies at different scales — locally in Ohio, across the United States and around the globe — and the many ways you can build a future of impact.

Kenyon Keys are interconnected and open for all to explore, whatever your major, class year or career interests.

Language Learning — Accelerated

Kenyon’s distinctive introductory language program enables students to achieve the highest level of proficiency in the shortest possible time.

Gain Experience, Locally and Abroad

At Kenyon, fieldwork takes many forms — consider a local internship, a course with a global component or a semester or year abroad.

Community Internship Program

Build essential skills by interning with local employers and nonprofits during the academic year or over the summer. Kenyon offers funding to organizations that otherwise would not be able to support paid internships.

Travel-Embedded Courses

In these full-length courses designed around Kenyon’s two-week spring break, you immerse yourself in a topic — Greek antiquities, the Galapagos Islands, the global art market — before immersing yourself in a place. Trips are fully funded, with rigorous on-site activities designed for deep and reflective learning.

Globally Connected Courses

Each of Kenyon’s globally connected courses partners with a related course taught at a non-U.S. institution. Through shared readings, discussions and activities, you examine course material through different cultural lenses.

Study and Work Abroad

Kenyon offers more than 250 immersive study abroad programs across 50+ countries. Programs can advance your language skills or deepen other areas of study. Some, like those coordinated through the School for International Training, offer independent study and experiential opportunities.

From Farm to Table and Back Again

In this pre-orientation program, meet and work alongside the farmers, chefs and community organizers who fuel the local food system. Visit community gardens and farms to learn agricultural techniques and help harvest local produce. Have lunch with a local chef and explore other local businesses before helping deliver meals to those in need.
