Kenyon Keys Faculty Research Grants support and promote scholarly and creative collaborations that fall within one or more Kenyon Keys: Data & Technology, Democracy & Publics, Global & Local, Health & Community, Making & Knowing, Sustainability & Society. In 2026-27, we expect to award up to three grants of $10,000-15,000 for projects that run over 1-2 years (2027-28 or 2027-29). Preference is given to projects that are cross-divisional, cross-disciplinary, and/or inclusive of student or community engagement.
Applications should include the following documents:

Proposal (1,500-2,000 words). The proposal describes the project aims, scope and relevant context. It should include a short paragraph on how the proposed collaboration speaks to one of the Keys.

Collaborators. The list of participants in the proposed project should outline their roles and duties for the project. If the project includes student collaborators, provide as clear a description as possible of the work they will be doing, their training, and if they are participating for course credit, individual study or as research assistants. Note that, other than honoraria for campus visits, the funding cannot be used to pay external collaborators or communities outside Kenyon.

Outcomes. Separate from the research aims of the proposals, you are invited to expand on the outcome of the collaborative projects, whether they are publications (and in which venue), workshops, conferences hosted at Kenyon, or something else.

Budget. A detailed budget should include all projected expenses, including stipends and honoraria, purchase of materials, any expected travel, accommodation, and other expenses.
